Auto Pricing: How You Can Control ItActually, you can get far bigger bargains while buying an auto. Auto prices are not set in stone. Different dealers offer different prices for the same model. Just by moving around the dealerships, you can find the dealer who offers the lowest price. In the process, you will also come to know how the model you want is priced. Do be clear about the model you want to buy. This is important if you are close to the buying decision. Looking at all the models is only a preliminary exercise intended to narrow down. Don't make the buying decision at this stage. You could end up losing big. You can do the preliminary and buying stage shopping around on the Internet these days. Probably, the auto model you want is available at a real bargain price at a location you would otherwise have not come across. Once you have an idea of the model you want, and the prices at which it is offered, you can start meeting dealers. Try to bargain with them. Remember what we said at the beginning about auto dealers being far more experienced in bargaining for cars. So don't let them take complete charge. Keep your composure, and don't get distracted or bowled over. If you are not getting any serious bargains, ask for time to consider the offer and come out. If you are tough guy, try this approach. Dealers are usually willing to match any offer made by their competitors. So meet two or more dealers who sell the model you are interested in. Get offers from all of them. Then start meeting each and asking them to match the lowest offer. If you get a lower offer, use it to bargain with the dealer who had offered lowest earlier. Continue this process till you have got the best deal. A cousin of mine got $7,000 of the sticker price using the above tactic. You, the buyer, controls auto pricing to a large extent. Exercising this control is not stress-free. It can be stressful. However, the result can be gratifying, and much more in amount than the bargains on all the cooking oil you will probably buy in a year. New Articles |
